Islington Gardeners are delighted that our Council has done so well (again!) in the prestigious London in Bloom competition in 2009. The London Borough of Islington emerged as overall winners of London in Bloom 2009, seeing off every other leafy borough in the city. Particularly gratifying was the Gold Award for a Borough in the City Group B Category. Many congratulations! For full details of the many awards the Council won, please click on the following link to the relevant page on the Council's website:

The Winning Sites can be seen on this page:

We wish Islington's Greenspace team every encouragement and any support we can give them in their work to make Islington's outdoor environment lovely for us all in this coming year 2010 and of course to do as well in the 2010 London in Bloom competition!

Once again Islngton Gardeners have helped Islington's Greenspace with this popular borough-wide competition, again providing expert judges for the preliminary judging. Again, we have sponsored the prizes for the most wildlife-friendly awards in each category, as we take the view that our threatened biodiversity needs to be encouraged to flourish in every kind of garden and not just confined to an occasional "nature" garden. We are delighted that yet again competitor numbers increased in 2008,and and have pleasure in listing the competition prizewinners below, with photographs of most of the first prizewinning entries.
