01/01: Islington in Bloom 2008
Once again Islngton Gardeners have helped Islington's Greenspace with this popular borough-wide competition, again providing expert judges for the preliminary judging. Again, we have sponsored the prizes for the most wildlife-friendly awards in each category, as we take the view that our threatened biodiversity needs to be encouraged to flourish in every kind of garden and not just confined to an occasional "nature" garden. All prizewinners have been given complimentary IG membership for 2009. We are delighted that yet again competitor numbers increased in 2008,and and have pleasure in listing the competition prizewinners below, with photographs of most of the first prizewinning entries. All entrants and prizewinners make a significant contribution to the quality of life in the borough of Islington and we hope that they will continue with their gardening.
