Several IG members made a trip to the Savill Garden near Egham, Surrey, recently, and found it in its winter glory. It is an acid garden, and the witch hazels were fantastic, and it is worth remembering that these plants like an acid feed if your garden is neutral as many Islington gardens are. Otherwise their leaves will go very pale, and they will die. We found the photographs below irresistible. The garden is normally open to the public and its website address is: www.theroyallandscape.co.uk It has a new visitor centre of interesting design, with good food.

The April 2007 newsletter has an article on Islington's new community garden, King Henry's Walk Garden in Mildmay. KHWG have their own website at: www.khwgarden.org.uk. with photos.
The January Newsletter contains an article about growing clematis from seed, and below are a number of gorgeous clematises propagated by our writer, a propagation enthusiast. They are all unnamed large flowered hybrids except for the clematis alpina at the top.
